The term "tranny"

I would like to acknowledge that some transgender folks do not like the term "tranny" or "trannies". However, that being said, I would just like to reassure the newbies here that we use the term lovingly and with affection. I'm sure you already picked up on that, but being crystal clear with your intention never hurts, right? :D

personally, of all the transgender terms, "tranny" probably is the best one of the bunch! For myself, never liked cd..crossdresser...transvestite..etc..
Not living as a fem full time or planning a switch in gender full time, i think transgender isn't the correct niche for me to be tagged with. When dressed, i'm quite comfortible thinking of myself as a tranny...
and take it as a complimentary term..
but that's just my humble take on it..

seems like the problem always comes back to people trying to put other people in boxes. Pick the box you like or grab a couple or don't take any. Whatever as long as you feel good about it.

I consider myself to be a part-time boy. heh I pass as male in public on a very regular basis. Men greet me with "hey brother!" It's so cute. I walk away with a smile on my face.

        That is cute.

Has anyone seen the Flava of Love or I Love New York? I've been watching I Love New York and I am in love with it. So, I went to youtube to find the roots of this New York chick on the Flava of Love. the video has been removed, but at the reunion (context - everyone from the old show hated New York) some chick yells at New York and calls her a tranny. New York steps back, tosses her hair and says thank you.

That was maybe a stupid story, but point is that the term sometimes seems endearing. I suppose it applies differently to different people, but I see many of the trannies that I have met as beautiful and brave. I sure wish I had the guts & vision to express myself like that!

hmm it does seem like a compliment when you think about it like that. Though from the little I've seen that new york girl is a crazy bitch...and not in the complimentary way. But it doesn't mean she can't do something good sometimes.

I kinda like tranny, it's a very casual term. Transexual/transgendered sounds so harsh and medical. When you say tranny it tells people it isn't a big deal "I'm a tranny, so what?". Though it's still good that you mentioned that's it's not being used to be mean spirted.
